I’ve been living in Port Hedland for almost a decade now after moving from Perth, and it’s where my family and I now call home. Raising our family of three here has given me a deep sense of connection — to the people, the landscape, and the community. North West isn’t just where I work; it’s where I belong.

Being a photographer in Hedland comes with its challenges — the extreme heat, dust storms, fly season, and the occasional cyclone. Outdoor sessions aren’t always easy, but that’s not what I see through my lens. I see beauty. I see resilience. I see a community that thrives in conditions others might shy away from.

I see strong, loving families. I see individuals full of quiet power and connection. And I see people — everyday people — who are genuinely extraordinary.

Photography here is so much more than family portraits. It’s about capturing real moments and genuine connections across the town. From community and corporate events to mining site experiences, family days on site, and visiting executives, every session tells a different story. And that’s what makes photographing Hedland so special to me.

I believe the best photos come from truly listening. Every client, every event — big or small — is important, and their experience matters to me. Understanding what they want helps me plan the shoot and capture moments that really reflect their story.
